Just over a year ago, the Generalitat’s Department of Enterprise and Work was dismissedr José Recaredo ‘Reca’ Vidiella as managing director of Comfortable, a company dedicated to the manufacture of components for heavy machinery with factories in Ripoll and Campdevànol. The Government did not explain the reasons for that move that came a few weeks after the company presented the best results in fifteen years. Comforsa has been controlled by the Generalitat since 1985 in an operation that sought to guarantee an activity on which hundreds of jobs in the region depended and still depend. In recent years, the Government has invested around 30 million euros.

Almost two months after Vidiella’s dismissal, the first reports of irregular salary increases appeared. Now, the newspaper The country has published the result of one audit commissioned by the Department of Business and Workaccording to which Vidiella committed an alleged crime of disloyal administration or misappropriation for amounts greater than 714,000 during the period in which he was director of the company (2018-2022).

The audit is one of the documents provided in the complaint that is being processed against Vidiella in a Barcelona court. The documentation reveals that Vidiella’s salary went from the 85,000 gross annual euros agreed upon when he joined the company, to almost 220,000 euros in 2021, a figure that includes a target bonus. The oversalary received by Vidiella, according to the audit, would reach 477,837 euros, an amount to which must be added another 236,586 euros from the company that the former CEO used to pay for his residence in the region, and card payments to pay for purchases at the supermarket, dinners or an assistant for your home.

Three other managers of Comforsa also saw their salaries increased without the permission of the board of directors, but they have resigned and have already agreed with the company to return these extra salaries worth around 80,000 euros.

Vidiella had always opposed the Generalitat auditing Comforsa with the same sieve as other companies in the public sector In fact, he had always maintained that, despite being owned by the administration, Comforsa was one commercial company under private law to which different rules had to be applied. He has always defended that when he joined the company with a salary of 85,000 euros per year he was promised an upgrade. This is what the company’s board of directors approved some time later based on a report on remuneration in companies equivalent to Comforsa.

The former director of the Ripoll company has sued the Generalitat for summarily null and void damages

Before the filing of the complaint against Vidiella, he had already initiated two processes against the Generalitat, one to consider his dismissal as null and void, and another to claim moral damages. In this second, the Secretary of Business and Competitiveness and president of Comforsa, Albert Castellanos, and the director general of Avançsa, Josep Maria Vilarrúbia, are responsible.
