His brother Mustafa, who was with him, received a suspended sentence.

The decision was subject to appeal within 7 days, which was done, reports BNT. From now on, the higher instance of the Turkish court will have to decide whether there are procedural violations.

The 32-year-old employee of the Ministry of the Interior was shot with one bullet in the head right next to the furrow of the Bulgarian-Turkish border around 20.40 on 7 November 2022 while on duty. Together with their colleague, they discover a breach in the border fence. The two got out of the car they were traveling in, and at that moment, shots were fired at them from Turkish territory.
