Women United for Education (MUxED) called on the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) to carry out the Program for the OECD International Student Assessment, better known as the PISA test.
The NGO Muxed, made up of 219 women from various sectors, revealed 10 reasons why Mexico you should not abandon the test PISA, among them, they explained that the data it provides can be used to design and adapt educational policies; Therefore, the lack of information would make it difficult to evaluate how our country is situated in terms of essential knowledge and skills for students in an international context.
They also emphasized that without this evaluation, Mexican families and society as a whole will no longer have information about the state of education in our country. Given this, they invited the SEP to “authorize and coordinate the necessary actions to carry out the pilot test required for the definitive application of the test.” PISA 2025”.
They explained that this test is applied in public and private, rural and urban schools, of all types. “The results offer a general perspective, at the national level, of the degree of preparation of the students of 15 years completed. Without this panoramic vision we can hardly identify areas of improvement for schools, teachers, families and the educational system as a whole,” they noted in a statement. /Karina Aguilar
