More than 16,000 (!) plastic bottles were recycled within three hours by the members of the Paguristas volunteer group at the Environmental Education and Recycling Park of Ioannina, with important “allies” being the young students of the 23rd Kindergarten, as well as the older students of the Arsakei High School of Ioannina.
The reciprocating recycling action not only yielded environmental benefits, since 16,228 bottles did not end up in the trash, but it was also an example of social solidarity, as the vouchers worth 440 euros, which will be redeemed for the purchase of items, will be allocated to the needs of the Durahani Monastery and the children hosted at her boarding school.
In this action of the Paguristas, in addition to the members, friends of the group contributed as always, but also the owners of the city’s restaurants, who made available quantities of bottles for recycling.
The recycling of the thousands of plastic bottles started in the morning at the Environmental Education and Recycling Park by the members of the Paguristas and also the young students of the 23rd Kindergarten, who together with the teachers recycled the packaging they collected throughout the year and attended the educational program “The cycle of recycling 1500 lost packages!”.
It is recalled that the recycling actions of Paguristas started in June 2022, with the coupons being turned into valuable help for social structures in the area, while in one of the many reciprocating recyclings, all the coupons were turned into necessities for the flood victims of Thessaly, which were personally delivered to the area of Karditsa by members of the group.

However, social solidarity actions do not stop there. For their part, the students of Arsakeia, in addition to the bottles they collected and recycled to contribute to the strengthening of the Durahani Monastery, also collected money for the purchase of a wheelchair, which will be allocated to the wheelchair basketball team of the Ioannina Basketball Club (IBC). . Students and Paguristas will be at the training of the IBC team, in Neo Klisto, next Thursday, at 12:30 p.m., but also at the match against Aris Thessaloniki on Sunday, March 31, at 2 p.m. The items that have been collected for the Durahani Monastery will be delivered there, while anyone who wishes can also help with essential items, which will be brought to Neo Klisto.
The delivery of the wheelchair will take place on the day of the wheelchair basketball Hellenic Cup final, which will take place in Ioannina, on Saturday, June 8.
