A Cuban migrant, and two other Peruvians, were recently rescued by Mexican authorities when they were lost in a mountainous area.

According to local journalist Said Betanzos Arzola, who published the incident on his Facebook account, there were two isolated cases, and the first of them occurred on February 11, when the Cuban migrant called the authorities to ask for help, since she had lost in the Jacume ejido.

“The first case was recorded on February 11, when a woman of Cuban nationality contacted to request support from the authorities to rescue her after being lost in a mountainous area.”the reporter wrote in his publication.

The woman, whose name has not been revealed, was located and rescued by the National Migration Institute (INM), with the collaboration of the Tijuana City Council, headed by Mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez.

The second case occurred on February 15, when two women from Peru got lost in the same ejido, but were found and rescued by the United States Border Patrol, since they had crossed the border between that region and San Diego, in the land of Uncle Sam.

Given this, Enrique Lucero Vázquez, municipal director of Migrant Assistance (DMAM), explained that these cases are due to the desperation of many migrants who do not have a CBP One appointment and who are deceived by human traffickers who offer them other routes to illegally cross into the United States.

The case of this Cuban migrant is reminiscent of that of a family, also from the island, who was rescued by the Mexican authorities after getting lost, precisely, in the same Jacume ejido.
