From Texcalac, Mexico, journalist Valentina Álvarez reported through her social networks that a group of 14 Cuban and Colombian migrants who were transported in the box of a trailer (truck) were rescued by members of the national police.

The journalist pointed out that after the incident, the authorities proceeded to arrest two people.

The arrest occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, on the highway that connects Apizaco to the Apizaco-Huamantla bypass, in the Texcalac area. The 14 migrants who were traveling in the box of a trailer were rescued by the authorities and among them were two minors.

According to the journalist’s report, there were 9 men, 3 women, plus the two minors (1 of 5 boys and 1 of 16 girls), all of them Cubans and Colombians, although she did not specify how many from each country.

“Given this situation, the authorities verified that they did not have the corresponding documentation, which is why they were protected from immigration,” said the journalist.

Those arrested were Noé N., 38 years old, as well as Erick Josué N., 19 years old, from Ecatepec de Morelos and Acolman, in the State of Mexico, respectively. Both were detained to face justice.

It was also learned that the license plate of the tractor-trailer had a current theft report.
