Kozhikode – Minister of Public Education V. Shivankutty will announce the district in which the next arts festival will be held later. The minister clarified that only after completing the revision of the Kalotsava manual, it will be announced in which district the next year’s Kalotsava will be held. The government is trying to hold the next state school art festival after informing the world record authorities.

Malayalees love variety of food. This time there was a desire to serve Kozhikode Biryani to the children. Next time Kalotsava menu will also include meat dishes. A decision on inclusion of tribal arts will be taken in the next arts festival. Sivankutty also said that they will investigate the whereabouts of the school art festival talent later.

The art festival, which took place two years after the Kovid pandemic overwhelmed us, was able to be organized with great excellence. This fair was very impressive due to the people’s participation and organization. In that regard, the organizing committee has worked in the best way. I cannot thank enough to the chairman of the organizing committee and Tourism Minister PA Muhammad Riaz and his office. Sivankutty said that the efforts made to connect school arts festival and tourism like never before should be highlighted.

Further reforms need to be brought in the selection of judges along with revising the Kalatsava manual. Actions should also be taken to make arts festivals more popular. That popularization should not be aimed only at increasing the number of spectators. There will be a mechanism to identify and nurture talent right down to the grass root level. This is not to say that it will happen in a day. But the minister said that he would like to assure that there will be continuous efforts for that.

At the same time, KS Chitra sang Lalithaganam, which she had won first prize in the state school arts festival when she was a student. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the State School Arts Festival, Chitra recalled her childhood prize-winning song and sang it.

“Odakuzha..Odakuzha..

The kiss of the lovely eye

She who has swallowed poomadhu..

Ragani Nienuragini is another

Radha or Rugmini…” A simple song was sung for the children in the film audience.
