San Salvador. Kimberly-Clark, through its Scott brand, presented the campaign Where is the bathroom?, whose objective is to raise awareness about the lack of access to a decent bathroom in Latin America.

This expresses the business commitment to improve access to basic hygiene and sanitation conditions for the most vulnerable communities in the region through its “Baños Cambian Vidas” program.

According to Eduardo Nieto, general manager of North Central America for Kimberly-Clark, the “Baños Cambian Vidas” program has impacted the population of the region through local activations that bring bathrooms, hygiene education and access to drinking water to the most vulnerable.

“In this 2023, we will continue working to reach the goal of benefiting 10 million people by 2030,” Nieto specified.

Poor sanitation and contaminated water are linked to the transmission of diseases such as cholera, dysentery, hepatitis A, and typhoid fever. Studies show that one in three people in Latin America do not have access to adequate and safe sanitation, and every year, 297,000 children under the age of 5 die due to diarrhea related to lack of water, sanitation and hygiene.

According to the organization Waterdata, 89 million people do not have access to a bathroom in the region.

Given this context, Kimberly-Clark, in association with the NGOs Water For People and Plan International, intends to impact around one million people in 2023. In addition, it will invest more than 2 million dollars to improve access to basic hygiene conditions. and sanitation in countries such as Bolivia, Peru, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Brazil, Colombia and Ecuador.
