Third dose of anti covid vaccine, Pfizer or Moderna, to counter the new wave of infections in Italy. The regions have opened reservations – for now reserved for certain categories – for the ‘booster’ dose and are preparing for the new mass vaccination at the end of 6 months from the second dose. From Lombardy to Lazio – which from Monday 15 November will also open to over 40s with administrations starting from 1 December -, here is all the information on the recall: who can do it, with which vaccines and how to book region by region.

At the moment they can book the third dose fragile categories (cancer patients, immunosuppressed and other fragile categories) of all ages, all patients over 60 (provided that at least 6 months have passed since the second dose), those who have been vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine (provided that at least 6 months have passed since the administration of the first dose).

They are used only mRna vaccines authorized in Italy, then Pfizer and Moderna. For those vaccinated with Astrazeneca and Johnson & Johnson, a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine will also be used for the booster dose (third dose).

Even subjects who received Sputnik, Sinovac and Sinopharm sera in the first vaccination cycle will be able to carry out the third dose with Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, only one dose if less than 6 months have passed, otherwise double dose.

the booking procedure are very similar to those already used by each region for booking the first and second dose of the vaccine, some regions have expanded the modalities, with a greater involvement of family doctors and pharmacies.
