Aravot.am presents Narek Malyan’s interview from the detention center.
– Mr. Mallya, Armenia was declared a bastion of democracy by the lips of the prime minister, but there have never been so many political prisoners in the history of independent Armenia. Do you feel like a resident of the bastion of democracy, the citadel of democracy?
– What is commonly called democracy is actually liberal fascism. In that sense, yes, it can be stated that Armenia is one of the leaders in the world with manifestations of liberal fascism, that is, extreme intolerance towards dissent. The government’s narratives imposed on the public by violence do not tolerate any criticism, and critics are subjected to the whole palette of pressures, from imprisonment for “finger-sucking” crimes to physical destruction. Armen Grigoryan was killed publicly, in front of everyone. The function of the so-called citadels of democracy is carried out today by the fortresses of Yerevan and Baku, and the residents-political prisoners of the mentioned “fortresses” feel on their skin every day what democracy is by the Aliyev-Pashinyan couple. By the way, the problem of liberal fascism is global, and many events and wars taking place in the world today are, in fact, against these manifestations. The good news is that liberal fascism has, by and large, already been defeated, and in the coming years the world will finally shake off the yoke of hypocritical, bloody, violent modern slavery. According to me, the other important observation is that large-scale and brazen repressions are the last tool for any power in the world to keep its seat. Repression is an irreversible process. The government can initially play democracy, pretend that it respects pluralism in its country, but it is enough to resort to repressions once, and there can never be a return, even to a formal democratic regime. Since the state of repression, as I already mentioned, is the last tool of dictators, it inevitably follows the loss of power. It has always been and always will be, without exception. Exposed dictators can temporarily extend their power at the expense of oil reserves or nuclear weapons, but the Republic of Armenia has neither. I leave the implications to the reader.
– In your opinion, why are so many people arrested, locked up in detention centers, what is the reason? For example, what danger did the authorities feel about you?
– Government repression has existed throughout the ages, from the Spanish Inquisition to liberal fascism. At all times, the goal of repression has been one: to forcibly impose the only true “religion” proclaimed by the government on the subjects. The short-term goals of repression are threefold. First, to silence those people who speak against the only “truth” of the government or question the veracity of that only “religion”. Second, to punish those people who, by their actions or words, dared to go against the “truth” of the government and harmed the imposed line of government propaganda. Third, to instill fear in the public, with the aim of preventing the emergence of pockets of dissent through fear and keeping the subjects on the only “correct” line of propaganda. In my particular example, all three goals are present. I am being punished because I have caused enormous damage to the liberal fascist agency network that seized power in Armenia through the Azeri-Turkish revolution. They are trying to silence me by imprisoning me, isolating me from society, banning my meetings, phone calls and any kind of contact with the outside world. And thirdly, with my example, they are trying to instill fear in the public. Everyone can see that in my crime there is no victim, no witness, no consequence, not a single piece of evidence, there is only one thing: a great desire to imprison Malyan Narek. One of the dictators said: there is a person, we will find the criminal article. This is a message to the public, be smart or you will be jailed like Malyan.
