The company Axiom and those responsible for NASA have shown this Wednesday for the first time the prototype of the suit that the members of that future mission will wear, just a week after the analysis of the results of the Artemis I test mission was presented, with which the SLS superrocket and the Orion capsule in which the astronauts will travel to the Moon were tested for the first time last November, but which was uncrewed on that 26-day test flight.
NASA considers that Artemis 1 has been a success and is confident that the problems detected -among which an unexpected behavior of the Orion spacecraft’s heat shield and damage to the launch pad during takeoff stand out- will be resolved in time to launch. the end of 2024, as planned, Artemis II, a 10-day manned mission to orbit the Moon. The identity of the four astronauts who will star in it – three Americans and one Canadian – will be revealed on April 4th.
But it will be the crew of Artemisa III – at least one man and one woman will go – who will wear the costume that has been presented today for the first time. They will be the first to land on the moon since the astronauts who closed the Apollo program returned in 1972.
