Thousands of people march in London against anti-Semitism

Thousands of people marched in the streets of London this Sunday (26) against anti-Semitism, the day after a pro-Palestinian demonstration, at a time when Israel and Hamas maintain a truce.

The procession left the Royal Courts of Justice towards Parliament, in the center of the United Kingdom’s capital, and numerous protesters waved Israeli flags, as well as posters with the motto “Zero tolerance for anti-Semitism”.

They also took photos of hostages kidnapped by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas during the attack launched in Israel on October 7. In response, Israel bombarded Gaza incessantly until the agreed four-day truce began on Friday.

“On October 7, we woke up to a new reality and it traumatized us,” Omer Plotniarz, a 37-year-old music therapist, told AFP.

In turn, Debby Goldberg, 52 years old, an Israeli citizen originally from Argentina, reported that she participated in the march to “support Israel” and “call for the release of all hostages”.

According to the Jewish charity Community Security Trust (CST), 1,324 anti-Semitic acts were recorded in the United Kingdom between the start of the war on October 7 and November 15, a record, compared to 271 last year in the same period.

The day before, tens of thousands of Britons marched in support of the Palestinians and called for a lasting ceasefire in Gaza.
