La Liga club Sevilla have sacked manager Jorge Sampaoli as the five-time Copa Del Rey winner teetered on the brink of the relegation zone.
Sampaoli’s dismissal was also carried out ahead of the match against Manchester United in the Europa League, next April 14, after Sevilla had played two La Liga matches.
“Sevilla FC, today, relieved Jorge Sampaoli of his duties. This decision was taken following the defeat at Getafe, which left the team just above the relegation zone. The club has decided to part ways with the Argentine coach ahead of the international break,” Sevilla said in a statement. official as reported by AFP.

Currently, Sevilla is in 14th place in the La Liga standings with 28 points. Indeed, this position is four ranks different from the relegation zone in 18th position, but the difference in points between Sevilla and Valencia, in 18th place, is only two points apart.
Valencia, currently, is in the relegation zone with 26 points. Above him are Espanyol in 17th place with 27 points, and Valladolid and Cadiz in 16th and 15th place with the same points as Sevilla, which is 28 points.

The former Chile and Argentina coach joined Sevilla in October 2022 for the second time, since managing the same team in 2016-2017.
Sampaoli’s second spell at Sevilla saw 13 wins, six draws and 12 defeats in 31 matches.
On April 14, Sevilla is scheduled to visit Old Trafford, Manchester, England to play the European Cup quarter-final match. The team who have won the Europa League trophy six times will return to face Manchester United in Spain on April 21.
