Otkritie FC, UBRD (Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development) and SKB-Bank in 2022 will launch a service for cash withdrawal from an ATM by third parties through a QR code generated in a mobile application. This is reported by Izvestia.
As Otkrytie emphasized, the service will simplify access to cash. It is planned that in the bank’s mobile application it will be possible to generate a QR code to receive a certain amount. After receiving this code, another person will be able to withdraw this amount from an ATM. This service will be able to use not only those who did not take their bank cards with them, but also those who are not clients of the bank.
Sberbank was one of the first to test a similar service in 2019. The money transfer service in favor of recipients without a card or bank account was supposed to provide for the receipt of cash from ATMs or branches using a code from an SMS message, but was not finally implemented. In 2018, Raiffeisenbank and Yandex.Money were tested by the digital code for issuing cash. At the same time, Tinkoff Bank has a similar service. Its customers can withdraw and deposit cash at an ATM using a QR code.
