DECRYPTION – Candidates for the presidential election have many proposals to deal with the difficulties of the world of health.
1 – Prevention, a key issue
In an essentially curative health system, prevention remains the poor relation and represents only 2% of health expenditure. Yet it is a key issue for saving money on avoidable care, preventing the loss of autonomy of the elderly and improving life expectancy in good health. All the candidates want to reinforce it, each in their own way. Emmanuel Macron – who, during the past five years, increased the price of tobacco to dissuade consumption and reimbursed 100% for glasses, dentures and hearing aids – now wants to strengthen the early detection of hyperactivity and “DIS” (dyslexia , dyspraxia, etc.), prevention of obesity, and setting up health check-ups at 25, 45 and 60 years of age.
Despite the “Ségur”, there is today a crisis of meaning, for many health professionals, which must be fully addressed.
