Kannur: The post-mortem report says that the tiger trapped in the wire fence in Kottiyur died due to infection. According to the preliminary post-mortem report, the tiger had lung and kidney infections. Caught in the barbed wire, the tiger became even more vulnerable. The post-mortem was conducted at Pookode Veterinary Hospital in Wayanad.

The decision was made to transfer the tiger to Thrissur Zoo, which was captured by drug shooting in Panniyammala, a residential area near the reserve forest area. He died on the way to Thrissur. The tiger was found trapped in a barbed wire at Panniammala on Tuesday morning. Then after 6 hours he was drugged and caught and locked in a cage.
DFO P. Karthik had given a written assurance to the people’s representatives that the tiger would be taken to Thrissur. When the forest department tried to take the eyes to the forest, the people’s representatives and locals strongly protested. Then, on Tuesday night at 8.45 pm, the forest department team returned to Thrissur with the tiger.
