The US House of Representatives and the bill it passed on the possible blocking of the TikTok application violates the right to freedom of speech, the press service of the social network said in a statement.
As Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru, Reuters writes about this.
“Unfortunately, the House is using the cover of important foreign and humanitarian aid to once again push through a ban bill that tramples the free speech rights of 170 million Americans,” TikTok said.
On March 20, the House adopted several bills, including assistance to Ukraine and Israel. As the agency notes, according to the bill, which the House of Representatives supported by a margin of 360 votes to 58, the application would be banned in the United States if the Chinese company ByteDance does not sell its stake in the social network within a year. The bill will be voted on in the Senate in the coming days. US President Joe Biden promised that he would sign the law.
Politicians who supported the bill believe that the social network poses a threat to national security, since the application can share the data of American users with the Chinese authorities, writes The Guardian.
