TikTok adds features to control how long you use the app

TikTok wants to give its users tools to avoid excessive use of the red social. That is why the company has enabled a series of new functions that will allow them to calculate and control how much time they use the app.

Like other platforms, the social phenomenon of videos shorts already allows its users to set a maximum connection time, a screen time limit that can be set on the ‘for you’ page. Now, TikTok goes a little further with the introduction of a new time dashboard that will break down in detail the time they spend online day and night, as well as how often they open the ‘app’ .

With this, the popular social network, owned by the Chinese technology ByteDance, seeks to “support the digital well-being” of its growing community. In just five and a half years, the platform has catapulted its popularity around the world, accumulating more than a million active users per month and becoming a benchmark, especially among the youngest.

“Having a positive relationship with digital devices and apps isn’t just about measuring screen time, it’s also about feeling in control of how we use technology and ensuring that the time we spend online contributes positively to our sense of well-being,” the company said in a statement.
