TikTok Chef Tini Younger Sets the Record Straight on Mac and Cheese Recipe Amid Grief

The viral chef addressed online speculation about the origins of her popular mac and cheese recipe while navigating immense personal loss.

  • TikTok chef Tineke “Tini” Younger, 24, clarified that her mac and cheese recipe is original, despite claims to the contrary.
  • Younger addressed the rumors on Instagram Stories on January 3, following the death of her twin daughter, Arya.
  • She explained she actually *taught* her mother-in-law how to make the dish, debunking the narrative that she took the recipe from her family.
  • Younger is also recovering from postpartum complications after delivering her surviving twin daughter, L.

A viral mac and cheese recipe is usually a good thing, right? But for TikTok chef Tineke “Tini” Younger, it became a source of unwanted drama amidst unimaginable grief. Younger briefly returned to social media on January 3 to defend her popular recipe and address online rumors, stating plainly, “This is the least of my problems because it’s literally Mac n cheese…But that recipe is MINE.”

Recipe Origins Spark Debate

The controversy arose from speculation that Younger had stolen the recipe from her husband, Antoine Wright Jr.’s, family in an attempt to profit from its popularity. Younger, who first went viral for her mac and cheese in 2023, quickly refuted these claims. She explained that she was the originator of the recipe and had even taught her mother-in-law how to make it.

“Antoine’s mom did not teach me how to make it, it’s not her recipe,” Younger asserted. “I literally have a video teaching my in laws how to make MY recipe to Mac n cheese. People like to believe things when it comes from a 3rd party instead of the actual person.”

Navigating Unspeakable Loss

Younger’s return to social media also touched upon the heartbreaking loss of one of her twin daughters, Arya, in November. She expressed her frustration with those who were trivializing her grief by focusing on the mac and cheese controversy. “And to the people that are making videos about stupid Mac n cheese and making it a problem, I’m glad Mac n cheese is a problem to you and could only wish that Mac n cheese is my problem,” she wrote.

She continued with a searing rebuke for those exploiting her tragedy for views: “And to the people bringing my deceased daughter into ‘Mac n cheese drama’ and using it to get more views on your post, I hope you rot in hell no sugar coat.”

A Difficult Pregnancy and Loss

Younger announced the loss of Arya, also known as Baby A, on social media in November, explaining she suffered a placenta abruption around 36 weeks of pregnancy. According to the Mayo Clinic, a placenta abruption is a serious complication where the placenta separates from the uterine wall before delivery, potentially cutting off oxygen and nutrients to the fetus and causing heavy bleeding.

“This isn’t the post I ever thought I would share once the twins came, unfortunately earlier this week we lost our sweet girl Arya (Baby A),” she wrote at the time. “We made it almost 36 weeks we were so close to being done and getting the girls to term but I had a placenta abruption and we lost our sweet girl.”

Her surviving daughter, L (Baby B), is doing well, and Younger shared that she often smiles in her sleep, seemingly dreaming of her twin sister. Younger also revealed she is still recovering from postpartum complications.

After a month-long absence, Younger returned to social media on January 2 to provide an update on her family. “Just wanted to hop on socials real quick and just let everyone know L (baby b) is doing good, we love her so much. We remind her everyday about Arya and Arya definitely plays with her sister in her dreams, L loves to smile in her sleep,” she wrote. “I’m not sure when I will be back, I’m still emotionally and physically trying to heal, I’ve had some complications during my postpartum which I’m still trying to recover from. Thank you to everyone who sends love.”
