jpnn.comJAKARTA – TikTok gathered 15 teenagers from various countries who formed the global Youth Council.
These dozens of teenagers were gathered by TikTok to increase online safety for the younger generation.
The council will work with experts to create safer and more inclusive applications.
The announcement comes after research showed the need for more open communication between teens and parents regarding online safety.
Only half of British teenagers talk to their parents about online platforms each month, and many avoid uncomfortable topics such as body image.
The Youth Council will focus on youth welfare and provide input on features such as the Youth Portal and reporting tools.
TikTok also offers resources such as a Safety Center with guides on bullying and body image, which is viewed by more than a million people each month.
To encourage parental involvement, TikTok is promoting Family Pairings to new users over the age of 35.
