Belgian cyclist Tim Merlier, of the Soudal Quick-Step team, took victory in a vibrant final sprint during the third stage of the 2024 Giro d’Italia. The competition, which spanned 166.3 kilometers from Novara to Fossano, saw a thrilling outcome in which Merlier demonstrated his power and skill.

Despite the efforts of general classification leader Tadej Pogacar to break the peloton in the final kilometers, the group remained compact until the finish line. Merlier crossed in first place with a time of 3 hours, 54 minutes and 35 seconds, thus ensuring his victory in this stage of the Giro.
However, the performance of the Colombians did not go unnoticed. Fernando Gaviria of the Movistar Team stood out as the best Colombian representative by finishing in ninth position, demonstrating once again his ability in the sprints. Juan Sebastián Molano also shone by occupying eleventh place, while Daniel Felipe MartÃnez, wearer of the blue jersey, finished in 34th place.
In the general classification, the Colombians continue to leave their mark. Daniel Felipe MartÃnez remains in third place, consolidating his position among the best in the competition. In addition, Einer Rubio and Esteban Chaves appear in fourth and eleventh position respectively, reaffirming the talent and strength of Colombian cyclists in the Giro d’Italia.
The fourth stage of the competition promises more emotions and challenges. With a route that will start from Acqui Terme and end in Andora after 190 kilometers, another intense day is expected in which the Colombians will seek to stand out once again in the prestigious international competition.
