Tiran Khachatryan, the former deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, is still under arrest, until now he has not been charged, Tiran Khachatryan’s lawyer Varazdat Harutyunyan told Sputnik Armenia.
“There is no change in the case of Tiran Khachatryan. For now, he is under arrest, the 72 hours of arrest have not yet expired, charges have not yet been filed. The RA Investigative Committee has initiated criminal proceedings, but the course of the case will show whether charges will be filed or not, and if so, what article will be filed,” the lawyer noted.
Harutyunyan said that 4 more people were arrested in this case, but he said that he could not say who they were.
“I can give general comments, but I cannot elaborate. Understanding that there is a public outcry, I have committed myself that if there is news, I will present it publicly. Since nothing has changed in terms of procedure during this time, I refrain from further comments. Let the preliminary investigation work, let the investigator work, let them get a normal, objective picture”, emphasized the lawyer.
