“Unfortunately, the numbers in Lombardy regarding ALS and Alzheimer’s continue to increase. We are witnessing an ever higher increase and this requires us to give concrete answers not only to patients, but also to the family unit that shares the patient’s disease. Villaggio Insieme is a unique example that we have in our territory, from which we will certainly start and to which we will guarantee our support for a continuity in assistance. An assistance that is increasingly competent, professional and innovative, to guarantee an ever higher quality of life for our patients “. Thus Simona Tironi, vice president of the Health and Social Policies Commission of the Lombardy Region, on the sidelines of the conference that was held at the S. Maria del Castello Foundation assistance structure to present the Villaggio Insieme project, now close to inauguration and ready to welcome affected people from ALS and Alzheimer’s.
A work realized also thanks to the generous donation of the Carpenedolese Gioconda Bozzola. After having lived 14 years alongside her husband suffering from ALS, hers is a gift choice to build a space dedicated to the assistance of patients who fight the disease together with their families, so that no one has to face the sense of loneliness that she has lived alongside her husband over the years.
“A generous gesture that leads us – concludes Tironi – to which is added the strong will of the mayor of Carpenedolo who believed in this project and the Lombardy Region which must absolutely guarantee the continuity of these levels of assistance”.
