Titans Dominate Pepperdine 83-69, Set Sights on Cal Poly Showdown

The Cal State Fullerton Titans delivered a commanding performance Saturday, defeating the Pepperdine Waves 83-69 at Titan Gym. The victory marks the team’s third win of the season and sets the stage for their Big West Conference opener against Cal Poly on December 4th.

First half Fueled by Scoring runs

The contest began as a back-and-forth affair, with the lead changing hands five times in the opening period. However, a pivotal eight-point scoring run spearheaded by strong individual performances from Joshua Ward, who lead all scorers with nine first-half points, and contributions from Christian Williams and Seaman, each with eight. The Titans also demonstrated dominance in key statistical categories, outscoring Pepperdine in points from turnovers, paint production, second-chance opportunities, and fast breaks.

Second-Half Surge Seals the Victory

The Titans maintained their composure in the second half, responding to every Pepperdine challenge. A crucial sequence of three consecutive three-pointers – initiated and finished by davis White with a key contribution from Seaman – ignited titan Gym and extended Fullerton’s lead to 16 points.

Fullerton continued to find the basket with consistency, ultimately securing the 83-69 victory. The team’s offensive prowess translated into significant advantages in several statistical areas, including a 9-2 edge in points off turnovers, a 26-10 advantage in paint points, a 7-2 lead in second-chance points, and a 24-8 scoring differential from the bench. The Titans also improved their shooting percentage from 44% in the first half to 51% in the second, finishing the game at 47% overall.

Joshua Ward finished the night with a team-high 19 points, adding 10 in the second half, while Landon Seaman contributed 17 points and a team-leading eight rebounds.

The Titans will return to Titan Gym on Thursday, December 4th, to face Cal Poly in their first Big West Conference matchup of the season, with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
