Today, on January 17, the French Senate will discuss the inter-party resolution condemning Azerbaijan’s aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh, which is aimed at condemning Azerbaijan’s military aggression in Nagorno-Karabakh and preventing further attempts of aggression against Armenia and violation of territorial integrity.” The resolution also calls for sanctions against Azerbaijan, writes shantnews.am.
“We condemn Azerbaijan’s military attack against Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19 and 20, 2023, which forced almost the entire Armenian population living there to emigrate. It is the duty of the international community to demand that Azerbaijan do everything to guarantee the right of the Armenian population to return to Nagorno-Karabakh under the possible conditions to ensure their safety and well-being,” the Senate draft states.
The resolution condemns the arrest of political leaders of Nagorno Karabakh and calls for their immediate release.
The Senate reaffirms the inviolability of Armenia’s territorial integrity and calls on Azerbaijan to immediately withdraw its forces from the sovereign territory of Armenia. “We welcome the decision of the French government to supply military equipment to Armenia and we support any initiative aimed at protecting Armenia.”
