Gameplay and Technical Specifications
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is a single-player, narrative-driven action-adventure game powered by Unreal Engine 5. Players control Lara Croft as she searches for the scattered pieces of the Scion, an artifact of immeasurable power. The journey takes her through various exotic locations, including the jungles of Peru, the deserts of Egypt, the ancient ruins of Greece, and a mysterious Mediterranean island.

The remake features rebuilt locations and new mechanics, while retaining returning encounters such as Lara’s battle against the T-Rex. Hands-on previews from Summer Game Fest 2026 indicated that the updated controls make Lara’s movement smoother and more responsive while maintaining the deliberate platforming of the 1996 original.
AI Disclosure and Development
A disclaimer on the game’s Steam page states that AI-assisted tools were used during development to support temporary content and early exploration. The disclaimer further notes that any AI-assisted assets were either refined or replaced by humans to maintain the team’s artistic vision.

A representative from Crystal Dynamics told Eurogamer that the studio leverages AI tools to help teams iterate on ideas faster and more efficiently,
while ensuring that all finished content in the final product is human-crafted.
