Shoving, pushing and verbal confrontations were reported in the vicinity of the mayor’s office Iztapalapa between officials and alleged members of the Antorchista movement, who requested an audience with the mayor Raul Basulto Luviano.
According to the protesters, they went to the property to demand compliance with various commitments made by the mayor and his team in public works and services in different colonies of the demarcationactions that, they assured, have not been carried out.
Tempers flared, leading to a confrontation between the torchbearers and the workers who were in the building, which led to the detention of some protesters.
“The national antorchismo condemns the repression suffered by the torchbearers, for which they demand the immediate release of the detained comrades and demand that the demands of the residents be met with concrete solutions,” the protesters said in a statement.
Versions refer that the protesters blocked the property of the district, preventing the entry and exit of employees; in addition to demanding land for housing, threatening to invade some areas of Iztapalapa if they do not obtain it. / Ángel Ortiz
