Toulon overthrows the London Irish and goes into the last square

RC Toulon won at home against London Irish on Sunday in the quarter-finals of the European Challenge (19-18) and still have a chance of winning it for the first time. The Toulonnais have reached the final of the second European competition between clubs three times (2010, 2012 and 2020) without ever winning. Above all, they have the opportunity to reconnect with their recent continental history and their famous hat-trick in the European Cup (2013, 2014 and 2015), when they could be deprived of the final phase in the Top 14 (eighth). The RCT can in any case count on the return to form, after a long injury, of its international third line Charles Ollivon, author of a try against the London Irish (59th) and named man of the match. Four penalties and a successful conversion from Louis Carbonel were enough for the Varois to win, despite the try at the end of the match from Henry Arundell (73rd). The semi-finals will, as often, be clashes between French and English clubs: Toulon will face Saracens, while Lyon will play against Wasps (from May 13 to 15).
