BOLZANO. Among the 74 candidates – in the name of culinary art, sustainability, and sport – the Tyrolean project was awarded for the project “Tourism meets agriculture” “Osttirol de Luxe & Lienz City Market Association” (it has 16 farmers and 21 top-level chefs from the area; since 2022 the “GenussLaden 24/7” has always been open and here, in addition to local agricultural products, you can also find so-called “convenience products” based on regional raw materials from master chefs) and the South Tyrolean project “Eggental Taste Local” (a project for the direct distribution of vegetables, fruit, herbs and eggs: in 2023 it involved 14 farmers and 30 restaurateurs as partners, 9,000 kg of vegetables of 45 varieties, 11 types of herbs and infinite eggs were produced). Also awarded “Organic Fair South Tyrol” is the catering project launched by Bioland Südtirol in local restaurants and currently brings together 10 partners. The core of the project is the three-level label (gold 90%; silver 60%; bronze 30%) that measures the percentage of use of organic products.
The two agricultural councillors of the Province of Bolzano and of the Land Tirol, Luis Walcher and Josef Geisler>, the president of the South Tyrolean hotel and public service union Hgv, Manfred Pinzger>, and the president of the Association of South Tyrolean farmers and direct cultivators, Daniel Gasser>, gave the winners a check for 2,000 euros and a gift basket with a certificate.
The special prize of the Bolzano Chamber of Commerce – a gift basket – was awarded to the online shop “Pur Südtirol” from the Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce, Alfred Aberer.
“Initiatives like these make the local and regional food cycle virtuous for both companies and customers. This competition should act as a multiplier and encourage other producers and restaurateurs to seek synergies”, says Provincial Councilor Walcher.
