Tokyo, January 12, 2026 – Toyota is unleashing a seriously focused performance version of its GR Yaris, the Morizo RR, limited to just 200 units globally. This isn’t just a trim level; it’s a road-legal distillation of lessons learned from the grueling 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, and it’s arriving in spring 2026.

The development of the GR Yaris Morizo RR is a direct result of close collaboration between Gazoo Racing and Toyota Gazoo Rookie Racing (TGRR). The goal? To translate the hard-won knowledge from endurance racing directly into a car you can drive on the road. Akio Toyoda himself drove a GR Yaris with an eight-speed direct automatic transmission at the Nürburgring, and that experience heavily influenced the setup of this special model.
Power and Precision: Under the Hood
At the heart of the GR Yaris Morizo RR lies an eight-speed direct automatic transmission, engineered for rapid gear changes and precise control. The chassis has undergone extensive Nürburgring testing, resulting in a setup that balances stability on uneven surfaces with everyday usability. The electric power steering has been recalibrated, and a new “Morizo” driving mode replaces the traditional gravel mode, locking the torque distribution at 50:50. The turbocharged three-cylinder engine produces 280 hp and 390 Newton meters of torque.
What makes the GR Yaris Morizo RR special? It’s a direct link between Toyota’s racing program and a production vehicle, incorporating feedback from Akio Toyoda’s own driving experience at the Nürburgring.
Visually, the Morizo RR stands out with a carbon rear wing – a product of the Nürburgring development – that generates significant downforce. A front spoiler, side skirts, and a carbon fiber hood complete the aerodynamic enhancements. The exclusive “Gravel Khaki” exterior is paired with a piano black radiator grille and matte bronze wheels, while yellow brake calipers and interior accents pay homage to Morizo’s personal color preference.
A Cockpit Inspired by Motorsport
Inside, the GR Yaris Morizo RR embraces functionality with a suede-covered sports steering wheel, slightly reduced in diameter, and specially adapted shift paddles. The steering wheel buttons have been rearranged based on the layout of the GR Yaris Rally2. Each vehicle will feature a numbered plaque with the Morizo RR logo, signifying its limited-edition status.
Sales in Japan will operate through a lottery system accessible via the TGR app. While Toyota has not yet announced pricing, experts anticipate a price tag exceeding the standard GR Yaris’s starting price of 51,990 euros, likely landing around 70,000 euros or more, given the car’s exclusivity and extensive modifications.
