The engineers working in the production in Zwickau were not opposed to modernization. In addition to the basic models, there were experimental samples, but none of the options went into mass production. One of the reasons is the prohibition of the party elite of the GDR, which did not agree to modernization. The other was technical: the body structure of the car, which weighed 620 kg, did not allow design changes.
