Thursday December 15, 2023, a stone’s throw from the Yvelines prefecture, in Versailles, around a hundred young people gathered in a side alley of Avenue de Paris. Dressed in black, faces masked for some, security armbands for others, their outfit impresses. That is perhaps the goal… Among them, members of the small far-right group from Versailles, Auctorum, but also others from Cocarde, a hard-right student union, based at the University of Versailles – Saint -Quentin-en-Yvelines.

Everyone responds to the call launched by the far-right Justice and Security committee, created a few weeks after the death of Thomas, a 16-year-old stabbed to death during a village festival in Crépol (Drôme), last November. This tragic death caused emotion, with some speaking of “anti-white racism, the savagery of society”.
