By now it seems like a lottery: Transavia does not yet know when flights will be canceled next month and the feeling of uncertainty for people who have trusted the Dutch carrier is increasing, says AD. Transavia’s dozens of cancellations also erode profits. Already 15,000 passengers have been “deceived” and the damage per customer is approaching 1,000 euros. “And people are very angry.”, writes the portal.

The company canceled eighty flights during the May holidays alone, as a result of which 15,000 travelers were stranded, according to the EU complaints organisation. Above all, holiday flights from Eindhoven to Spain are canceled with the consequence of paving the way for compensation that can even reach 300 euros, says the portal. And that’s not counting: hotel or rebooking fees for those whose return is cancelled. According to Paul Vaneker, an analyst at EU Claim, the company has to shell out up to 1000e per passenger.

The airline is facing an acute shortage of aircraft. Of the 45, 7 proved unusable due to, among other things, major maintenance work being delayed. The chartered planes could not be deployed in time and therefore, the results are there for all to see.

And now, what will happen to those who have to return? The risk of having to book a flight worth hundreds of euros next week because Transavia will cancel what you have booked seems like a real option.
