Until recently, Hong Kong had some of the strictest quarantine rules in the world as it followed China’s ‘zero-Covid’ policies. This drove tourists away from Hong Kong. But from now on travel to Hong Kong will no longer require quarantine.

A spokesman for Hong Kong’s Airport Authority said efforts are being made to revive the tourism sector, which has been overwhelmed by Covid, and welcomes tourists. He stated that he plans to spend 254.8 million dollars for this.
A spokesman for the airport authority also said it has pre-purchased nearly 500,000 flight tickets from Hong Kong airlines as part of a plan to support the aviation industry in 2020.

John Lee, Hong Kong’s chief executive, said measures would be taken to make Hong Kong a top tourist destination again and revive the economy.
Meanwhile, even though the hotel quarantine has been lifted, a pre-flight Covid vaccination certificate, negative PCR test and rapid antigen test are required to be submitted before entering Hong Kong. Moreover, travelers, after entering the city, have to observe themselves for three days, during which they have to face the lights while eating in restaurants or visiting bars.
