Real Madrid Bolsters Roster with NBA Veteran Trey Lyles

Real Madrid has officially announced the signing of Canadian forward Trey Lyles, adding a seasoned NBA player to its ranks for the upcoming season. The 29-year-old, standing at 2.06 meters (6’9”), brings a decade of experience from the North American professional league to the Spanish powerhouse.

Lyles concluded his contract with the Sacramento Kings, bringing to a close a remarkable 10-year NBA career spanning 662 games. Throughout his time in the league, he averaged 7.6 points, 1.1 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game, establishing himself as a reliable contributor.

Originally selected 12th overall in the 2015 NBA draft by the Utah Jazz, Lyles spent two seasons in Salt Lake City before moving on to the Denver Nuggets, San Antonio Spurs, Detroit Pistons, and most recently, the Sacramento Kings. He saw significant playing time with the Kings last season, appearing in 69 games.

The addition of Lyles is expected to fortify Real Madrid’s interior game under the guidance of coach Sergio Scariolo, joining forces with established players such as Tavares, Fernando, Garuba, Hezonja, and Okeke. “This signing demonstrates our commitment to building a competitive team capable of challenging for championships,” a senior team official stated.

This acquisition marks the sixth new addition to Real Madrid’s roster this market, alongside Theo Maledon, David Kramer, Gabriele Procida, Miralem Okeke, and Be Almansa. With the arrival of the Italian coach and his staff, the total number of signings reaches seven. The club has not ruled out further additions, particularly in the base-scold position, should suitable opportunities arise.
