As Le Parisien revealed, they wrote a letter to the President of the Republic in which they accuse the Insoumis of having distinguished themselves “by extremely serious comments” since October 7 “between indecency, lack of respect, relativism and negationism “. Since the attacks against Israel, several Insoumis officials and elected officials, starting with Jean-Luc Mélenchon, have refused to qualify Hamas as a “terrorist organization”, preferring to use the terms “war crimes” to refer to the abuses committed.

“The political controversy can go to the side”

“There were 42 French people who were killed on October 7. It is normal and important that France pays tribute to them. It is a national tribute to which all political parties are invited, explained Manuel Bompard. We understand the pain, the grief, and we share it, of the families of the victims. »

Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s right-hand man thus wanted to “reassure the families”, stressing that he was “in no way in [leur] intention to transform a moment of national tribute into a political moment.” “I invite everyone to do the same. When we pay tribute to the dead, I think that the political controversy can go to the side,” he added in the direction of these five families.

Manuel Bompard also contested “certain passages in the mail which [lui] appear to attribute to La France insoumise positions that it has never defended. “All LFI representatives and spokespersons condemned the crimes committed by Hamas on October 7,” he defended, refusing “any controversy.”
