Various measures are being taken for the convenience of passengers in the Trichy railway sector. It has already introduced the system of getting unreserved tickets through cell phone application called UTS to implement paperless ticketing in green travel.

So if you install the UTS app on your cell phone, you can get unreserved train ticket, season ticket, flat bar ticket, season ticket renewal etc. in a few seconds. Tickets can be purchased within 15 meters from the railway station and within a radius of 20 km through this app.

Tickets can also be purchased by scanning the ‘QR line’ at railway stations. But you cannot get unreserved tickets through this app as at the railway station. With the introduction of a new app, passengers no longer have to wait in long queues at ticket counters. Wallet can be recharged with bank account etc.

In Trichy region, 99 thousand 235 unreserved tickets were sold through the UTS cell phone app during a period of 10 months from April last year to January last year and a revenue of Rs 98 lakh was earned. Through this, 4 lakh 32 thousand 515 passengers have benefited.

Similarly, there are 7 Automated Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) in Trichy Division, 2 ATMMs each at Trichy and Thanjavur Railway Stations and 1 ATMM Machine each at Kumbakonam, Mayiladuthurai and Nagai Railway Stations. An additional 12 ATMM machines are to be installed soon.

14 lakh 20 thousand passengers got 8 lakh 9 thousand unreserved tickets in 10 months from last April to last January through 7 ATM machines in Trichy division. Trichy Division Railway Public Relations Officer R. Vinod said that a revenue of Rs.8 crore has been earned through this.
