Babul Supriyo has been appointed as the National Spokesperson of Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee. He was a Union Minister on behalf of the BJP and is now a Trinamool MLA.
Supriyo has been MP twice for BJP. He was removed from the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year. Subsequently, it is noted that he left the BJP and joined the Trinamool Congress.
Thanking West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for giving her new responsibility, Subrio posted on Twitter and said, ‘I will work effectively in the new responsibility given in the party’.
Sources of the Trinamool Congress said that Supriyo has been given a new post, ‘Serious efforts are being made to take the Trinamool Congress party forward at the national level. For that, Supriyo, who is already a famous singer and a political leader known to many, has been given additional responsibility.
