“Trinity” Andrei Rublev returned to the Tretyakov Gallery

by time news

The Trinity icon by Andrey Rublev was returned from the Trinity-Sergius Lavra to the Tretyakov Gallery. For the first time in 100 years, it was taken out for worship in honor of the 600th anniversary of finding the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh.

The icon was examined by experts. So far, they have not found any visible signs of deterioration in the state of the masterpiece.

It is noteworthy that many believers, who stood for many hours in order to venerate the relics of the saint, did not notice the icon. They are usually kept under glass. You can kiss his shroud only twice a year, on October 8 and July 18. But some pilgrims considered the appearance of the icon in the Lavra a special sign.
