London: English club Newcastle United have acquired England defender Keaton Tripper from Atletico Madrid.
Tripper is the first player to join the team in Newcastle since the acquisition of the Saudi Public Investment Fund. Newcastle are currently the richest team in the world. The Saudi group is looking to bring in big players next season and make Newcastle English Premier League champions. The team, which has won just one of its last 19 matches, is currently 19th in the points table.
The 31-year-old Tripper was acquired by Newcastle for $ 16 million (approximately Rs 118 crore). Tottenham star Tripper later joined Atletico.
