First-of-its-kind cooperation in Israel: Colmobil, Sonol and Zen have signed an agreement that is expected to bring trucks based on hydrogen fuels, which are more environmentally friendly than oil and gas-based fuels, and emit only water vapor, instead of toxic gases.

Under the agreement, Colmobil, an importer of Hyundai, will bring to the country the Korean manufacturer’s trucks based on hydrogen fuel cells, while Zen will produce hydrogen fuel for them and Sonol will allow such vehicles to be refueled at its gas stations. In addition, Sonol and Zen have purchased trucks of this type for their vehicle fleets.

The trucks are expected to start moving on the country’s roads in the third quarter of 2022. Xcient Fuel Cell trucks will first arrive in Israel, capable of traveling 400 km after a single refueling that lasts 8 minutes. Hyundai is expected to produce 2,000 trucks of this model by 2025. A new model for a hydrogen-based family car, under the name Nexo. In hydrogen-based vehicles, hydrogen is used to generate electricity that drives the vehicle. Hydrogen engines weigh less than lithium-ion batteries in ordinary electric vehicles.
