Argument Over Donald Trump Preceded Fatal Shooting of British Woman in Texas

A dispute regarding former President Donald Trump reportedly escalated into a tragic confrontation, culminating in the death of a 23-year-old British woman at a home in Prosper, Texas, in January of last year. An inquest currently underway is detailing the events leading up to the shooting of Lucy Harrison, a fashion buyer from Warrington, Cheshire.

A Contentious Morning

According to testimony presented to Cheshire Coroner’s Court, Harrison had been visiting her father, Kris Harrison, and his family in Texas when a heated argument erupted on the morning of January 10th, the day she and her boyfriend, Sam Littler, were scheduled to return home. Littler stated that Harrison frequently expressed distress when her father discussed his ownership of firearms.

The argument, however, quickly shifted to political territory. “Kris and Lucy ended up having quite a big argument which led to Lucy running upstairs and being upset,” Littler told the court. The disagreement centered around then-President Trump, highlighting the deep political divisions that can fracture even familial relationships.

Disturbing Exchange and Final Moments

The inquest revealed a particularly disturbing exchange that occurred during the argument. Harrison reportedly questioned her father about how he would react if she were to experience sexual assault. A chilling response followed, with the father allegedly stating that, having two other daughters residing with him, such an event would not deeply affect him.

Approximately 30 minutes before the couple was due to leave for the airport, Littler recounted that Kris Harrison led his daughter by the hand into a ground-floor bedroom. Moments later, he heard a loud bang, followed by his father’s frantic screams for his wife, Heather. “I remember running into the room and Lucy was lying on the floor near the entrance to the bathroom and Kris was just screaming, just sort of nonsense,” Littler testified.

A “Real Force of Life”

Lucy Harrison, who worked for the fashion brand Boohoo, is remembered by her mother, Jane Coates, as a vibrant and passionate individual. “She cared. She was passionate about things. She loved to have debates about things that meant a lot to her,” Coates stated, painting a picture of a woman deeply engaged with the world around her.

The inquest also learned that Kris Harrison had previously sought treatment for alcohol addiction. He has not attended the proceedings, but his representative, Ana Samuel, characterized the inquiry as “more akin to a criminal investigation than a fact-finding inquiry.” The inquest is scheduled to conclude on Tuesday, and its findings will be crucial in determining the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
