Close to the billionaire defined the news as fiction
In a private conversation, Donald Trump has revealed that he will end the war in Ukraine in just one day if he is re-elected in November. He planned to convince Kiev to give up Crimea and the border region of Donbass in favor of Russia.
This is claimed in the “Washington Post”, citing informed sources. This approach contradicts the policy of President Joe Biden, who has strongly condemned Russia’s actions and provided aid to Ukraine.
According to the “Washington Post”, in a private conversation, Trump said that, in his opinion, both Russia and Ukraine want a way out of the conflict. The billionaire also noted that people in some parts of Ukraine “will be fine if they become part of Russia.”
“All the speculation surrounding President Trump’s plan comes from unnamed and uninformed sources who have no idea what is happening or what will happen,” Trump campaign spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said. Others close to the former US president directly called the news fabricated.
Earlier, Bloomberg wrote, citing its sources, that Trump plans to force Kiev into peace talks with the Kremlin if he enters the White House for the second time. He himself has stated more than once that the war will be over in exactly one day if he is at the head of the USA.
Anton Geratchenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, dismissed Trump’s alleged plan. Giving up land would harm Ukraine – and the world, he believes.
“In reality, this would mean the final collapse of the post-World War II world order and a signal that the law of force is now superseding the force of law,” argued Geratchenko.
A week ago, the Italian publication “Republika” wrote that NATO members during informal talks discussed a scenario in which Ukraine could cede territory to Russia in exchange for guarantees for Kiev’s immediate entry into the alliance. The newspaper claims that such a deal is considered by many experts to be one of the ways to end the conflict, but adds that at the moment this option does not appeal to Western politicians.
According to “Republika”, before the elections in the USA, many decisions related to the conflict in Ukraine have been frozen. Russia is actually waiting for the results of the vote and is not currently interested in negotiating with Joe Biden on any options to stop the war.
