Washington | Former US President Donald Trump’s new social media app is reportedly set to launch next month. The app is called ‘Truth Social’. The app is expected to hit iOS platforms on February 21st. The new app was developed by the Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), Trump’s media arm. TMTG is led by former US Congressman Devin Nunes. The screenshots in the App Store show that Truth Social is a duplicate of Twitter in design. Apple has retweet, reply, sharing and saving options similar to Twitter. The tagline for the app is to follow the truth.

Trump was banned from Twitter last year. Trump was blocked by Twitter following the violence in the US Capitol following the announcement of the election results. He then started his own new blog to communicate with his followers. It was also part of its own website. Although Trump was initially active with constant messages on the blog, it did not make much of an impact. With this, the blog was shut down. Trump took legal action against Twitter last October, demanding that the account be restored.
