The Grand Slam judo tournament is gaining momentum in Abu Dhabi (UAE).

As reported by İdman.biz, on the second day of the competition, four Azerbaijani athletes took to the tatami.

Rashid Mamedaliev started with a victory over Bruno Bermeo (Ecuador), and then defeated Julio Cesar Coda (Brazil), reaching the quarterfinals. At this stage he lost to Karen Galstyan (IJF), going to the repechage block, where he won against Baysangur Bagaev (Serbia). Rashid will compete for bronze with Tatsuki Ishihara (Japan).

Nariman Mirzoev lost at the start to Tatsuki Ishihara (Japan).

Zelim Tskaev started with a victory over Botond Toth (Hungary), and then defeated Adrian Sulci (Romania) and Dimitri Gochilaidze (Georgia), reaching the final. His opponent will be Zaur Dvalashvili (Georgia).

Omar Rajabli started his performance from the second round, defeating Vicenzo Peligra (Italy). In the quarterfinals, he lost to David Karapetyan (IJF) and went to the consolation block, where he lost to Nugzari Tatalashvili (UAE).

After the first day of the tournament, the team had one bronze medal, won by Acelya Toprak (57 kg).
