Snoopy Orchestra’s “Magic Christmas Night” concert directed and produced by Yu Shirota opens in Hyogo. The official report has arrived.
The Snoopy Orchestra Concert, the fifth year of the series, opened on December 8 at the Hyogo Arts Center’s KOBELCO Great Hall. This production started in 2020 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of PEANUTS, and Yu Shirota, who has been performing since the first year, has been directing it since last year, and the title was changed to[Oíche Dhraíochtúil na Nollag]. Yu Shirota has been confirmed to appear in the Nippon Television drama “Ikinari Kon” (Platinum Tuesday Night slot airing in January), announced today, and his wide-ranging activities as an artist and actor are expanding beyond genres. attention
When you enter the concert, you will see a large Christmas tree decorated with bright ornaments and gifts, art sets such as a snowman and a bright red dog house, which gives you a sense of the world of PEANUTS. This design was created by Rumi Matsui, a leader in stage design and winner of many awards. At the venue, natural sounds such as the voices of insects and chirping birds were played, which served as a prelude to the forest concert that was about to begin.
The stage opened with an overture performed by a full orchestra and a jazz piano trio, and the audience went wild. When Shirota, who serves as the led singer, appeared on stage, he sang everything from standard numbers to popular J-Pop songs.
At this Hyogo performance, Win Morisaki, who was in contact with Shirota in both his professional and private life, was a guest. A cover of keisuke Kuwata’s “Shiroi Koibitotachi” with an orchestral arrangement. In addition, the Western Christmas music medley captivated the audience with the harmonies of Shirota and Morisaki, the chorus of the unique six-member vocal group FYURA, and a relaxed session that brought out everyone’s character. Images of the PEANUTS gang and others were projected from the LED panels set up on the big Christmas tree, and together with the gorgeous lighting, the audience was enthralled from start to finish.
At the end of the main story, Shirota and music director/pianist Takana Miyamoto co-wrote “Yume no tane ~ I’ll be by your side”, which was co-written last year as an image song for this concert and released digitally. in October this year. The euphoria in the venue reached its peak, and the event ended with two Christmas songs performed as an encore.
KIMIKA will appear at the Hokkaido performance on December 12th, and Thelma Aoyama will appear at the Tokyo performance on December 23rd.

Yu Shirota: thank you for having me! this year’s concert is indeed special for multiple reasons. Firstly, it’s the fifth year of celebrating the PEANUTS legacy, which is a important milestone for all of us involved. We’ve been able to evolve the series over the years, and this year we introduced a fresh title, [Oíche dhraíochtúil na Nollag], which adds a magical touch to the experience.
Time.news Editor: That sounds enchanting! I hear that the concert features a stunning visual setup, including a large Christmas tree and a snowman.How did the design elements contribute to the overall atmosphere of the event?
Yu Shirota: Absolutely! when you walk into the KOBELCO Grate Hall, the ambiance is transformed into a winter wonderland. The large Christmas tree with its radiant ornaments and the festive decorations, like the snowman and the bright red dog house, help immerse the audience in the spirit of Christmas. It’s crucial to our vision that attendees not only attend a concert but feel like thay are part of an enchanting story.
Time.news Editor: You’ve been involved with this concert series since its inception. How has yoru role evolved from performer to director, and what new elements have you brought to the production?
Yu Shirota: Transitioning from performer to director has been a interesting journey. As a performer, I was deeply invested in the musical aspects, but as a director, I’ve been able to take a step back and view the entire production holistically. I’ve focused on creating a seamless narrative that weaves together music, visuals, and audience engagement. this year, we’ve incorporated more interactive elements to enhance the experience, encouraging the audience to participate in the magic of the night.
Time.news Editor: It’s marvelous to hear how you’re enhancing audience engagement! Besides your work with the Snoopy Orchestra, you have a busy schedule with your upcoming role in the Nippon Television drama “Ikinari Kon.” How do you balance your work across different artistic fields?
Yu Shirota: It’s definitely a juggling act! Each project I undertake feeds into the other—music inspires my acting, and acting informs my directorial decisions. I strive to maintain a harmonious blend of all my interests by prioritizing time management and staying open to new experiences. Each role I take on helps me grow artistically, which I believe ultimately enriches my contributions to the Snoopy orchestra.

Yu Shirota: My greatest hope is that they leave feeling uplifted and inspired.The holiday season is a time of joy and togetherness, and I want our concert to evoke those feelings.
