Turkey has set itself the goal of achieving 60 billion dollars in tourism revenue and 60 million tourists in 2024, the president of the Turkish Hoteliers’ Association (TÜROB) Mübera Eresin told Anadolu Agency, BTA reported.

The 12 percent increase in the number of tourists to Turkey in the first two months of this year supports these expectations of ours. The signals from the international tourism exhibitions are positive and we expect an increase in hotel occupancy, Mübera Eresin told the Anatolian Agency.

According to her, tourism in Turkey has grown from two million tourists to 50 million annually. Investments in the field of tourism have reached nearly 90 billion dollars, and the number of people employed in the sector has grown to nearly 1.5 million people, said the president of the Turkish Association of Hoteliers.

“Our goal is to reach 60 billion dollars in revenue and 60 million tourists this year, in line with the goal of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and we believe that this sector will continue to achieve its goals and provide strong support to the economy, Turkey’s employment and development,” Mübera Eresin pointed out.

Firuz Baglakaya, chairman of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB), confirmed the target for the number of tourists.

“Nearly 1.5 billion international trips are made annually, and since tourism is an extremely strategic sector thanks to its employment-creating and value-added structure, the competition in the sector is increasing every day globally,” Firuz Baglakaya told Anadolu Agency. .

He noted that the distribution of tourists in Turkey is mainly concentrated in three or four cities and this should change.

“We need to attract tourists from high-income groups and increase the share of high-value tourism, such as cultural, health tourism and others,” noted Baglakaya.

He said that Turkey aims to receive 100 million tourists in the future and is developing the sector for this purpose. According to him, this will lead to at least a double increase in the number of people employed in the sector.
