New Delhi: A Turkish national, Elkar IJ, has said he will not be Air India’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO). On February 14, the Tata Group announced the appointment of Elkar IJ as the CEO of Air India. But the RSS came out against the appointment, citing Elgar IJ’s links to Turkish politics. He also asked the government to cancel the appointment.

‘Some media in India are trying to tarnish my image in connection with my appointment. As a business leader, your only goal is job advancement. But it is not appropriate to take the position as there is smoke, ”IJ said in a statement.

IJ was his adviser when Turkish President Erdogan was mayor of Istanbul. The RSS came to the fore highlighting this connection. IJ resigned as chairman of Turkish Airlines on January 26 this year. Tata Motors has also confirmed that it will not be taking over the IJ position. Not ready to reveal more.
