The Turkish authorities announced the arrest of 281 illegal immigrants in various states in the west of the country during the last week.

The state of Edirne (northwest of the country) revealed in a statement that “the authorities arrested 166 irregular immigrants within a week who were about to cross the border towards Europe illegally.”
Security personnel in Balikasir Governorate (northwest) arrested 30 irregular migrants and two people suspected of involvement in human smuggling, in the last 24 hours, according to Anadolu Agency.
While the Turkish Coast Guard in the Fethiye region of Mugla Province (southwest) rescued 14 migrants from drowning in the last 24 hours after they were stranded at sea due to bad weather conditions. Among those rescued in the same boat was a citizen “suspected of human smuggling.” .
Also in Mugla, Coast Guard forces rescued 32 irregular migrants, including 4 children, who were pushed by the Greek authorities towards Turkish territorial waters off the coast of Bodrum district.
In the same context, the authorities in the state of Izmir saved 39 irregular migrants, including 24 children, from drowning, after the Greek Coast Guard pushed them towards Turkish territorial waters.
All irregular migrants were transferred to deportation centers in the states in which they are located to complete their legal procedures.
