by time news

José Mourinho was only a few minutes away from closing the gap on leaders Galatasaray. However, Fenerbahçe’s big rival beat Trabzonspor at 90+8m, in a frantic game, last Monday (4-3).

Facing a struggling team, just above the ‘waterline’, Galatasaray even started to score first through the experienced Dries Mertens. However, those from Trebizond equalized shortly after with the signing of Ozan Tufan.

On the half hour, Dries Mertens assisted Akgun with the goal and that was the result at half time. The reaction was done with Portuguese influence.

Simon Banza, former player of Sp. Braga scored the equalizer in the 51st minute with an assist from Portuguese Pedro Malheiro. The same Banza assisted Tufan for the double, four minutes later.

The equalizer was achieved with a penalty, by Michy Batshuayi. The same striker gave Rinn the hero at 90+8m, with a header after an indirect free kick.

Therefore, the Istanbul team has 41 points, six points more than Fenerbahçe with the same 15 points. Trabzonspor is in 15th place, with 16 points.
